Plan your ride

The Summerhaven loop trail consists of single and double track sections with several side trails to explore. The trails are shared use between ATVs, horses, and mountain bikes. The trail circles around some active pits, and has access to some ponds.

While the trail appears to cross Sanford road, the trail seems to end fairly quickly and you will find yourself bushwhacking or back tracking to the road. It is recommended to follow along Sanford Rd.

Parking may be found at the Tyler Pond WMA entrance. There is enough room for one rig. It will require backing in (or out) about 150 feet. Some people have reported being able to park in front of the house next to the WMA parking on Summerhaven Road, or parking along the dirt section of Sanford Road (don't block any access).

Notes:

There is a shooting range located on Sanford Road. This area is well marked, but if it is open your horse may be surprised by the loud noises. Additionally, heavy equipment may be operating in the pits on week days.

A short distance from the Tyler Pond WMA parking, there is a tree blocking the trail--you will need to bushwhack around it.
